Home lift Home lift for a detached house
Most homes to which we supply lifts were built without one. Solutions exist for the stairwell riser, a hallway corner, a former cupboard, or an extension to the façade. Here is how to get there.
We look for a vertical space that can be connected across floors: the stairwell void, an alcove in the entrance hall aligned on both levels, a utility room or cloakroom, and exceptionally part of a room. A self-supporting lift requires a footprint of approximately 1 x 1.2 m plus space in front of the doors. If nothing such is found in the house, it is time for outdoor extension.
An internal lift that does not affect load-bearing structures or alter the building's appearance is typically classified under Building Act 283/2021 Coll. As a construction modification requiring no permit. However, if load-bearing structures are affected (e.g., penetrating a reinforced concrete floor), notification to the authority is usually required. The addition of an external shaft almost always requires approval. Practices vary between authorities, so we will verify this directly with your local office and prepare the necessary documentation.
Within a week of arrangement, free of charge. The deliverable is two to three variants for placement and technology.
Within 48 hours of surveying. Itemised breakdown: lift, installation, construction preparation, electrical work, documentation.
Depending on the scope. Static assessment of the penetration, location drawing, and possibly a notification or application to the authority.
Approximately weeks, depending on the manufacturer and cabin design. Meanwhile, construction preparations are underway.
A few days. Testing, commissioning, training, handover of documentation and inspection schedule.
Yes, this is the most common case. Self-supporting technologies do not require a masonry shaft; construction work is limited to creating an opening in the ceiling and preparing the floor. The house remains habitable during installation.
Typically two to four stations, from the basement to the attic. The lift height of self-supporting lifts is generally up to 13 to 15 metres depending on the type; for taller buildings, a conventional cable lift is more suitable.
Home lifts are designed for 250 to 500 kg, i.e., two to five persons or one person in a wheelchair with an attendant. The cabin starts at approximately one square metre; for a wheelchair we recommend an internal dimension of approximately 1.1 x 1.4 m. Exact dimensions depend on the manufacturer and technology.
The technician will arrive, measure the space, explain which technology makes sense for your home and what construction work is required. Within 48 hours of the survey you will receive a non-binding offer from an installation partner in your region.
